PrimeDex is a free, open-source online Pokédex that lets you browse all 1025 Pokémon across 9 generations, compare stats, build competitive teams, and explore type matchups. It is built with Next.js 16 and React 19, and is not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak, or The Pokémon Company.
How many Pokémon are there in 2026?+
As of 2026, there are 1025 Pokémon in the National Pokédex, spanning 9 generations from Kanto (Gen 1) to Paldea (Gen 9). PrimeDex tracks all 1025 with stats, abilities, evolutions, moves, and locations.
How do I build a balanced Pokémon team?+
Open the Team Builder, add 6 Pokémon, and PrimeDex will automatically detect shared weaknesses, calculate type coverage, and score synergy. A balanced team usually covers at least 12 of the 18 types and minimizes overlapping weaknesses.
What is the best type combination in Pokémon?+
There is no single "best" type, but the most versatile offensive types are Fighting, Ground, and Ice because they hit 7+ types for super effective damage. The most defensively solid type combinations are usually Steel/Fairy and Ghost/Dark.
How can I check a Pokémon's weaknesses?+
Open any Pokémon detail page (e.g. /pokemon/pikachu) to see its full type matchup chart, or visit the global Type Chart at /types to compare all 18 types side by side.
Where can I play the Pokémon quiz?+
The Pokémon quiz is at /quiz. It includes six game modes: Classic, Silhouette, Stats, Time Attack, Survival, and Marathon. Difficulty adapts to your performance and there is no sign-up required.
